This Privacy Policy applies to LalaNest.com and related services (the “Platform”). It is guided by the laws of Kenya, including applicable data protection principles. It is not legal advice, but a clear summary of how we handle your information.
1 Who we are & what this policy covers
LalaNest.com is a platform that connects hosts, guests, agents and managers for short-stay and mid-term accommodation in Kenya and beyond.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share information when you:
- Browse the Platform as a visitor.
- Create or manage a host profile or listing.
- Search for stays or contact hosts as a guest.
- Interact with our content, support or marketing material.

2 Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account & contact details — e.g. phone number, name, email, city, role (host, guest, agent, manager).
- Host profile & listing information — property details, descriptions, photos, pricing, rules, availability, amenities and any KYC details you provide for verification.
- Support & communication — messages or emails you send to us (e.g. support, feedback or bug reports).
- Marketing preferences — your choices about receiving updates, offers or new feature announcements.
Information we collect automatically
- Log & usage data — e.g. device type, browser type, IP address, pages visited, time spent, clicks and actions within the Platform.
- Session information — data that helps keep you logged in securely and keep your experience consistent as you move through the Platform.
- Approximate location — where supported, we may infer city or region from IP address or optional location features to show more relevant listings.
Information from partners
Where we integrate with third-party tools (for example, payment gateways, SMS providers or analytics), we may receive limited information from those partners, such as payment status, delivery reports or device information, to help us operate the Platform.
3 How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Operating the Platform — to provide core features like login, host profiles, listings, search and contact flows.
- Connecting hosts and guests — to display listings, show relevant stays, and help guests reach out to hosts or managers.
- Verification & safety — to perform basic checks on hosts, listings or behaviour where necessary for trust and safety.
- Improving the product — to analyse usage patterns, fix issues, test new experiences and improve performance.
- Communication — to send you service messages (e.g. login codes, critical updates) and, where allowed, optional news or product updates.
- Legal & compliance — to comply with Kenyan law and respond to lawful orders, investigations or disputes.
Where required by law, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Platform, and/or our obligation to comply with legal requirements as the legal bases for processing.
4 Cookies & similar technologies

6 Where your data is stored & how we protect it
The Platform is primarily operated from Kenya, but some of our service providers or servers may be located in other countries. This means your information may be transferred across borders, with appropriate technical and contractual safeguards in place.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to help protect your data, such as:
- Secure server environments and restricted access.
- Use of encrypted connections (HTTPS) where possible.
- Regular updates and monitoring of core systems.
No system is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond to incidents responsibly.
7 How long we keep your information
We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. For example:
- Active host accounts, listings and profiles are kept while you use the Platform.
- Basic records of activity or communications may be retained for a reasonable period for security, analytics or legal reasons.
- Backups may retain data for a limited time even after active records are removed.
When information is no longer needed, we aim to delete it or anonymise it in a secure manner.
8 Your choices & rights
Subject to Kenyan law and certain limitations, you may have the right to:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete — request deletion of certain information, for example when it is no longer needed.
- Object or restrict — object to certain types of processing, or ask us to limit how we use your data.

9 Children & minors
The Platform is intended for adults (18+) who can enter into binding agreements for hosting or booking accommodation. We do not knowingly create host accounts for minors or knowingly collect personal data from children for hosting purposes.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal data inappropriately, please contact us at sleep@lalanest.com and we will review and take appropriate action.
10 Changes to this Policy & how to contact us
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we launch new features, use new service providers, or the law in Kenya changes. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice (for example, inside the Platform).
Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy. If you do not agree, you should stop using LalaNest.
